Dr. Burrowes attended the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami. He graduated from medical school with honors as a member of Iron Arrow Honor Society– the highest honor attainable at the University of Miami. Upon completion of his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was Chief Resident. Dr. Burrowes joined CFP Physicians Group in Casselberry in 2003, and became the company’s CEO in 2015.
Dr. Burrowes enjoys medical journalism and has written and appeared in articles for Newsweek, the Los Angeles Times and the Orlando Sentinel. He has appeared on and is a recurring contributor to CNN, NBC NEWS, CBS, Yahoo News, Univision and was recently profiled as “A physician who creates a safe space for the LGBTQ community,” on WESH 2 News in Orlando.
Dr. Burrowes enjoys teaching and is a volunteer faculty member at the UCF College of Medicine. He has previously served on the White House Health Equity Forum and was one of few physicians in the country chosen to provide testimony to the US House of Representatives Ways & Means Committee during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Burrowes has been repeatedly recognized by his peers as one of the top doctors in his field. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outdoors, supporting his Miami Hurricanes & UCF Knights and spending time with “Cris,” his wife of more than 20 years, and his son Aidan.
