Well Visits Schedule

It is important to keep up to date your child’s well visit schedule. We at CFP, strongly adhere to the preventive health recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the vaccination schedule of the CDC/ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices).

During the first year of life the newborns and infants need to be seen in the office frequently to make sure they have been gaining appropriate weight and length, discuss their feeding and sleep routines and to follow up closely on their developmental milestones. Typical well childcare schedule includes:

Birth

Daily check in hospital. Our pediatricians round daily at Winter park Florida hospital,
on our newborn patients in the post-partum unit.

Vaccine- Hepatitis B.

Circumcision for a newborn boy is preferably done in the hospital if parent desire to get it done.

All newborns get a hearing screen and metabolic screening test done in the hospital before discharge.

1-2 days after discharge

All newborn babies are seen in our office 1-2 days after their discharge to follow up on weight, jaundice and feeding or any newborn related issues.

Hepatitis B vaccine (if not given in the hospital)

2 weeks

Weight checks, feeding and sleep routine follow up.

Discuss about the newborn screening test results.

2 months

Monitoring of weight, length and head circumference on growth charts. Record developmental milestones and discuss anticipatory guidance with parents in regards to feeding, sleeping, development and behavior and most importantly safety tips for protection for your child.

Vaccines: Pentacel (DTaP, IPV, Hib), Hepatitis B, Prevnar-13, Rotateq

4 months

Continued monitoring of weight, length and head size on growth chart. Follow up on age appropriate developmental milestones and behavioral aspects.

Vaccines: Pentacel (DTaP, IPV, Hib), Prevnar-13, Rotateq

6 months

Continued monitoring of weight, length and head size on growth chart. Follow up on age appropriate developmental milestones and behavioral aspect.

Vaccines: Pentacel (DTaP, IPV, Hib), Hepatitis B, Prevnar-13, Rotateq

9 months

Continued monitoring of weight, length and head size on growth chart. Follow up on age appropriate developmental milestones and behavioral aspect.

No vaccines today

Hemoglobin check by quick finger prick test done in our office.

1 year

Wean to whole milk at 1 year of age.

Continued monitoring of weight, length and head size on growth chart. Follow up on age appropriate developmental milestones and behavioral aspect.

Vaccines: Varicella (Chickenpox), Prevnar-13, Hepatitis A vaccine

15 months

Continued monitoring of weight, length and head size on growth chart. Follow up on age appropriate developmental milestones and behavioral aspect.

Vaccines: MMR, DTaP, Hib

18 months

Monitoring growth and development.

M-Chat screen for developmental delay

Vaccines: Hepatitis A vaccine

2 years

Wean to 1% or 2% milk.

Continued monitoring of weight, length and head size on growth chart. Follow up on age appropriate developmental milestones and behavioral aspect.

2 1/2 years

M-Chat screen for developmental delay

3 years

Annual well visits recommended starting at age 3 years

4 years

Vision screen and hearing screen test done.

Vaccines: MMR, Varicella, DTap and IPV (Polio)

5- 11 years

Annual well visits recommended along with annual influenza (Flu) vaccines.

11-12 years

Vaccines:Menactra, Boostrix/Adacel (TdaP), Gardasil (HPV Vaccine)

12- 18 years

Annual well visits/Sports physical

Vaccines: Gardasil (HPV vaccine) and Meanctra

Annual influenza vaccine is strongly recommended for all children age 6 months and older, unless they have an egg allergy.
